My Garage door - has begun to come apart. I have read on the internet that i can just use a clamp and glue it back together; but i am confused because there is absolutely no movement at all in the stile (vertical). Is this just a case of applying more clamping force or is it too far gone for a repair.

Some images to hopefully show the severity of the problem.

Is the door dowel construction or mortise and tenon? The glue trick works best when you can pull the stile almost off and get glue onto the dowels or tenons rather than just blowing some glue into a narrow gap (which won't hold too long). You'll need three sash or T-bar cramps to hold the door together while the glue sets. Also be careful not to get any glue on the inserted door panels because that may lead to them fracturing at a later date

what i often do when i have this predicament assuming its mortise and tenon is to as said open as much as possible and glue
i also assuming a 44mm thick door use one or two 40mmx8mm pressed beech dowel for each joint from the back in a 40mm hole with the chamfer exposed as a feature or cut off before insertion and knocked below the surface
beech dosnt like damp to much so needs reasonable protection
another advantage off dowels is you can get away with two clamps one at a push by clamping then dowels moving to the next joint as the dowels will hold till the glue dries

Thanks for all the tips guys - the top of the door is pretty solid so am not sure ill be able to spread the gap wider.. Ill buy some clamps tonight and see if can at least get the parts to rejoin.
