Hi guys!

I'm attempting to tile my bathroom wall for the first time but I've hit a hurdle already.

I can't seem to figure out how to remove the pipe that's connected to the taps. If you look at the picture, when I turn these they just turn endlessly. I've tried applying pressure and turn to see if they canunlock but nothing.

I'm starting to wonder if I need to cut the pipes? :(

They are push fit, not sure which ones they are usually you need to push in a collar to release the grip ring.
Have a look here easier than trying to explain, one extra tip when you release the collar before pulling the pipe out try to push it in a couple of mm first.

Some push fits need a special tool to release them this sort of thing.

They are the Marley push fit fittings. I doubt you'll get the tool. I think Marley stopped making these fittings.

Thanks footprints, and for the tip! I will get the tool today and continue with the project :)

Not all Demounting tools are the same, you need to establish what make the fitting is first.

Best bet is to cut them out and fit new couplings and pipe.

They do look like Marley Equator, still available but very hard to find as most Merchants stock Hep2o, Speedfit or Polypipe

You don't want to reuse them as they were a poor fitting when new, once you have disturbed them you may have issues refitting them, just cut them out, unless you want to reuse the tap tails.

15mm Demounting tool https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252521616228 or you could try Plumb Center as they used to stock Marley Equator.

You could spend hours trying to find a suitable demounting tool for those fittings. Best to just cut the pipes - you can put some isolation valves on it at the same time then for a proper job :)

PS, it's a basin, sinks go in kitchens ;)

Just be careful where you cut. The copper tails from the monobloc tap only have a certain amount of 15mm diameter pipe left poking out of the fitting and you need to leave enough to get into your new fittings. You may want to leave the top fittings alone and cut further down.
