Morning all,

New to the forums, but been lurking for a while but I can't seem to find an answer to my question.

We have moved into a house with an Ideal C24 Mini combi with a tiny programmer built into the front of it (not user friendly at all). There is a danfoss rmt230 room stat in the living room which as I understand is good because it has a live and a switched live, earth and a neutral.

I replaced the room stat with a cheap and cheerful roomstat/programmer which was battery operated therefore the neutral was blanked. I've since switched back as the unit was useless and not user friendly either.

I would like to install the Hive as they are on offer at Screwfix and the app functionality will be really handy for us. If I can avoid it, I don't wis to faff around with the boiler wiring inside the boiler but am happy to with guidance.

Am I able to simply fit the Hive receiver in the place of the wired room stat? Are all the connections that run to the RMT230 enough to connect up the Hive? Will the 3amp fused switch supplying the boiler/room stat at present be sufficient to satisfy the fuesed switch requirement of the Hive? This would be by far the simplest and neatest option as long as it is legal and safe. I've done plenty of alterations to electrics in the past and have an understanding of the principles, but would really appreciate a little guidance with this.

While I really appreciate any help offered, please don't waste your time if you are just going to say 'get a spark in'. I'll only be doing it if I'm a hundred percent happy I can do it safely.

I will attach the pictures of the wiring to the existing room stat, wiring in the boiler and the wiring of the backplate of the Hive.

Thank you in advance.

No looking at the picture of the boiler connections there is a label saying volt free external controls. So there is no mains at the room stat.
You will have to fit the hive receiver at the side of your boiler and wire it into the boiler connections. Live neutral and Earth from the mains block and terminals 1 and 3 into 1 and 3 on the boiler.
Obviously turn the power off to the boiler before starting.
When you have done.that you will need to leave the clock built into your boiler on constant for the hive to work properly.
