Saw this in a super market the other week and thought it was a bit odd, two "Fire Alarm" manual call points next to a double emergency exit door.

Don't think there was a magnetic door lock, but can't be 100% sure.

Maybe one of them is for something else or that one is not within the required regulatory height and thus another one had to be put in.

Left hand one is a much more modern call point, on a modern addressable fire alarm panel. The right hand is older design, probably from a older panel, probably now decommissioned but nobody has got round to remove and cover the old call point.
On the other hand it could be in a shop in a shopping centre so one is for the shop's fire alarm and the other is for the shopping centre's system :p
 
Ones for door locks (Emergency Door Release) should be green (or, a long time ago, they were white). I have to agree with you - it's pretty confusing!
