Sorry to hijack thread but looking at getting an Intergas boiler but have two questions.

1) Will need the combi compact HRE 36/40 or combi compact ECO RF 36, what is the main difference?

2) Are the above compatible with a LPG system.

Thanks

Would it not be better to ask your proposed Gas Safe registered installer the questions about what is most appropriate for your own application?

All Intergas boilers can be converted to LPG via a very simple process. The ECO RF 36 has a ten year warranty (assuming you use a P5 installer), an RF Chip on board for direct communication with Honeywell controls, and puts out 30kW to heating (36kW to water). The HRE 36/40 has a 7 year warranty, no RF Chip, and puts out 40kW to heating and 36kW to hot water

But it still needs a good installer on site to discuss which would be better to use in his particular case.

The choice/limitation of Honeywell controls is a factor to be discussed.

Thanks people. Just been doing research into what boiler to get, total minefield, and the Intergas seems to get good feedback from people that work with boilers day in day out, unless anyone wants to recommend a better LPG combi boiler for a 4 bedroom house with 2 showers.

I have got in touch with a local installer who is a registered P5 so waiting to hear back. I was just curious like most and wanted to get a bit of background knowledge as last time I got a new boiler in my old house they made a mess and it took me ages to get them sort out the problems they created.

I hope you don't want to run two showers together!

Tony

No problem at all.

Its the total heatloss that is relevant but that is unlikely to exceed 24 kW.

A combi is sized on the hot water demand.

But it is not just two showers. It is not to use any other outlet such as kitchen tap while someone is showering.

Am good at not using any other hot water tap when someone is showering, other members of the house often forget. Ideally I would like solar thermal panels but would need a tank etc as currently only got a combi so not sure if worth the investment, anyway am going off topic.

Solar thermal is the only green technology which is beneficial without needing a subsidy.

If you have any attraction to that then I would advise having a heat only boiler and a solar compatible cylinder. Panels could come later on.

A cylinder will enable all hot showers and taps to be used at the same time is the mains flow rate can support it.
