We have a NEFF dishwasher, new a couple years ago. only just run it up.
at the end of a cycle the little pill that you put in a compartment is always not fully gone
the washer is conencted to 1 cold water supply which is somewhat lower in pressure than the rising main pressure.

why might the little pilly thing not be fully disolving?

It is supposed to drop out of the compartment in the door. It may not be dropping and therfore not getting any water around it to actually do its job. Check for obstructions which prevent the door from opening in the cycle.

Failing that, put the tablet in your cutlery tray from the start.

Is the tablet one that you unwrap and you are unwarpping it?
To the best of my knowledge it is only the top line 'Quantum' ones that do not need unwrapping.
You are using a 'wash' cycle and not a rince cycle.

Sometimes the tablet can sit where it does not get enough water hitting to fully dissolve , will vary with every wash as the dishes vary in location. The wife no longer uses the dispensing slot because of this and drops tab in cutlery tray.
