Hi All,

I have an Alpha Intec LPG boiler and over the weekend, with the drop in temps, the pipework froze. Bloomin' frost mode obviously did not kick in, so the boiler didn't do much the following morning. Not much that I could have done at that point, and a bit later after bits of it started to thaw, I heard a rush of water.......woooooosh....

A few litres later, I managed to identify where the leak was. I just don't know what the item is or what it does. I'd like to order it in before plumber comes round. No point in getting him (or her!) round for a 4 day wait until the part arrives!

I realise there may be other parts that may need replacing...but hopefully not!

This is the boiler and approx location of leak

This is the component in question:

And this is the actual specific location where the water gushes out. I think this is next to the heat exchanger, but not part of it....

Any ideas?

TIA!

Sorry, can't find the exploded view for the 25x.

I'd give them a call in the morning regarding the warranty - nothing to lose.

just call them with the boiler serial number and you wont need the paperwork, they will ask for proof of annual servicing though or the warranty will be void

More likely to be the plastic cracked in my experience.

Looks like a diverter valve motor underneath. Quite likely that has been damaged by the water too.

If they send someone under the warranty make sure you are nice to him and offer coffee etc. He may need to stretch the warranty to cover frost damage although you may have an argument that the frost protection did not operate.

Not been serviced yet as is under a year old. The engineer that fitted it is on their approved list on their website at least also.

Well yeah, power was on, water was on, gas was on, so no idea why protection did not kick in. But, will put the kettle on as soon as he arrives.

It could well be the plastic by the way as I found there was some play with the copper pipe by pushing it down a bit - still leaks though!

you should be covered even if it is frost damage, I hope you are because if you need the complete diverter they are shockingly expensive
