I can only speak for myself, but I have found no problems with Windows Defender. I have never seen it switch itself off either.

Of course, I use the internet sensibly and don't push my luck clicking on anything that looks suspicious.

I don't know. I do know that it provides regular updates to its virus definitions.

I used to use Avast, but now rely on Defender. I have noticed no difference in performance of the computer, and that's all that concerns me.

Make sure y'all somewhat, know the difference between cookies, Possibly Unwanted Programs and actual viruses.

Been trying the different AV's down the years - in on the very first iteration of Norton (Utilities) then several others down the last 27 yrs.
Been using the MS Win Defender some years now, cannot comment on it because it hasn't found anything !
Tend to run in Sandboxie maybe within a Virtual Mc (Win7 Ultimate) if playing with media stuff - Never had a real Virus - Yet !

I always use freeby CCleaner prior to shutdown, not saying it is the best - But sure it isn't so bad, removes the garbage which could be flagged up by Superantispyware or Malwarebytes.
