STOP. Right now. Powerlines are bad technology that will cause interference to your neighbours. This is because mains wiring is not screened, balanced, or terminated and so is not suitable for RF, so it radiates interference up to a kilometre. The most affected is short wave radio, but the latest devices affect FM and DAB radio, and presumably air traffic control which uses similar frequencies. Much cheaper and legal is to run an ethernet cable.

Great thanks for confirming! I thought the junction box seemed more sensible than a double spur but I guess both are protected by the same 13a fuse so little difference.

It's la ring. Loft extension on a Victorian terrace. The upstairs and loft extension mains are on their own mains ring from the consumer unit. Lighting is on its own ring from the consumer unit.

Really. Rings are not used for lighting circuits. Check again.

Perhaps the lighting is not on a ring, but it is on it's own fuse on the consumer unit. Either way, the sockets are on their own ring which is separate to the lighting. So the spur I ran is nothing to do with the lighting.
