Fridge connection

Hello

I refurbed my kitchen. I cut the old water filter off the 6mm plastic pipe.
Now ive got just the pipe how do i connect it to the speed fit appliance outlet?
Where is best place for filter?

feed to fridge small 6mm pipe.
Water feed from mains is a speed fit appliance outlet.
What am i missing?
I remember there was a filter the 6mm went into but i dont remember what came out the otherside to connect to mains.
What i meant by best place for fiter was where to get one.

I think you're probably missing the bit you cut off! Why did you cut the old filter out?

Sorry. I removed filter i never changed it in 36 months. I threw away the connector.
Found one on amazon

Fridge now does not have a cold water outlet, but old one the filter was inside the fridge, the water held in the filter was part of the cold water tank, today all fridges with cold water don't seem to be plumbed in any more. I used 8 mm copper it was ample.
