Slave markets

I think you will find that the white man was responsible for doing it on an unprecedented and industrial scale.

It was very noble of the British slave owners to agree to end slavery - and be handsomely compensated for their generosity.

My oh my, didn't those Southern cousins of the RWR make good use of the slave trade over they, in the cotton fields of Mississippi. I betcha Klan cousins all miss dem slaves now.

A doc on the BBC suggested a figure of up to 12,000,000 slaves were exported from Africa by certain middle east countries way before europeans set foot on the continent

ivory coast ,Gold coast the africans got rich on the slave trade ;)

I have not disputed previous slave numbers. White man however did it on an industrial scale. In the short time they exported slaves, they did it in large numbers.

Did the industrial Revolution cause the end of slavery in Britain, the rich invested in machinery instead of slaves.

How much would it cost to keep a slave today, with all the health and safety requirements, accommodation plus food and clothing not to mention public liability insurance in case they damage someone's property while trying to escape.

Hmm, I could be wrong, but I think you've got the wrong idea about keeping a slave. Large initial investment, minimal running costs, then maximise return on investment with judicious use of a whip.

Corporal punishment is banned if you whipped your slave they would probably sue for compo.
With all these "No Win no free" merchants around ,it would be cheaper to invest in a ride on mower to get your grass cut.

Arse end's comments are as reliable as a chocolate teapot!

Asre end repetitively claims to be ignoring me, yet he posts on a thread that I have started:

Ethopia had a population totalling 2,000,000. The whole of the Portugese Empire, including N Africa and Africa had a population totalling 2,000,000 in 1700.
To remove 12,000,000 people from Africa would have decimated the population completely, probably never to recover.
Have you been getting your information from YouTube again?
Please show us the source of your information, unless, of course it is yet more of your lies and fantasy.

For future reference, arse end, you cannot see threads started by those you have on ignore! As you have only been around for here for 8 years, I thought you might have sussed that out by now.

Your comments remind me of someone cooking Spaghetti Bolognese, then serving it on a bed of 1 meter wide pea gravel, utterly pointless.
Your comments always contain grains of truth, mixed up with loads of lies and fantasy!
So why would anyone bother taking any of your comments seriously.
I am not ignoring you, but I do find your comments witless and pointless.
A smiley to indicate that your comment was meant as a joke is like Corbyn telling the country that he is a staunch Euro supporter, then smiling for the camera. It is still bare-faced lies!

I think Mark Vincent is being ironic

So was I, that's why I didn't bother continuing.

Now Transam, over what period was the 12Mill transported, and as Africa is a large place, did they mention exactly where from. Obviously, if you take slaves over an extended period, it would keep the population down, but the BBC do have a history of promoting biased documentaries, so even I might take the figure with a pinch of salt. And I wonder who took the population cencus though.

 no not that I recall neither did they say over what sort of time scale ?

The documentary was basicaly dealing with some of the facts concerning the slave trade to the US in the 1800's

African countries,African chiefs /kings or what ever got very rich out of the slave trade ,made a fortune

many or most of the slaves were captives from inter tribal wars ,that were sold to the traders.

African complicity in the slave trade tends to be conveniently forgotten ;)

Being a BBC documentary, I suspect there are facts mixed in with conjecture, and then adjusted to fit the agenda.

Haven forbid that anyone mentions that.
