Hi guys new to the forum :)
Really need some help deciding on which to get.
They are both around the same price and both have the same features and both are from good company's ... i will mostly be using it for furniture upcycling and im a student so money is a bit tight hence the budget sanders.

Many Thanks

Metabo used to be a good company. Now they're very wishy washy. Makita are a good company. The majority of my gear is makita and on that basis alone that's where I'd go.

Metabo are a very good company and a lot of their machines are second to none imo. Like their corded angle grinders and drills. Have about £2ks worth of metabo kit. Cordless and corded.
Metabo have the worlds first cordless 9" angle grinder. The SBE and SPEV range of drills are the best ever made.

Probably the most over priced grinders on the market today. AvE dismantled one of their pancake headed angle grinders, not sure of models or what not. I wouldn't spend my money on one. As for the drills I've seen at least one of them sold under a different brand so I'm not entirely convinced everything they sell is unique to them. This is why I said wishy washy. For every good or groundbreaking product they sell there's another that doesn't serve the brand at all; wouldn't surprise me if before long they're sharing Hitachi products. Might well be the case already.

I've never seen a duff metabo sold under another name. Seen plenty of duff makitas with dodgy labels.
The market was flooded with them a while back.
But I like Makita also. Have just invested £800 quid on their sheet metal working machines.
I've never shoe horned my self with a single make. Have bosch, festool, hitachi, hilti, fein, metabo and makita.
Fein and hilti angle grinders are probably more expensive than metabo.

No not duff as such but the same tool re-badged. I've attached an example - who's the manufacturer? Well Mafell charge £240 for the kit while Metabo want £120ish; I'd imagine it's a Shenzhen Special.

Yeah I have a metabo planer thicknesser, although it's just an Elektra Beckum that's badged up as Metabo after they were bought out. I use some dewalt, bosch, makita, hilti etc.

Never seen a Hilti or Fein grinder anywhere other than catalogues.
