and theres the inevitable attempt at humour!! its definitely on the inside of the tank i can tell you that much :)

been a while since i was referred to as son lad!! have to go here as ive an extension to finish, the knocking is coming from the element fitting which is situated on the dome :)

when you hit 60 it comes to you
if its on the dome its a doddle
little bit of draining little bit of heaving
get yourself a decent immersion heater key

cheers, sounds like a job for the wifes Uncle Andy tbh, ive not much knowledge of disconnecting one of these

Why did you come onto a DIY site and ask questions regarding your plumbing when you have a family member who is a plumber and only a phone call away?

Are you uncle Andy who does not know how to fix this?

The plot thickens!

Andy

not sure who the **** you think you are questioning my motives stranger, you have an overactive imagination, quite simply i wasnt sure if it was more an electricians domain seeing as the element works off electric, im well within my rights to ascertain if i can fix the problem myself first by seeking advice on here, isnt that what this site is all about, i have managed to overcome quite a few appliance and general problems myself over the years by listening to tradesmen on here that are prepared to help people willing to learn.
