Hi everyone, my washer developed a fault recently which I think I managed to trace to the pcb.
The motor would struggle to turn the drum in the first part of the wash cycle. The more clothes the worse it would be but worked perfectly during rinses and spins. Having eliminated a slipping belt (motor has no carbon brushes) I thought the motor was faulty. However, this morning I noticed the problem only happens when the heater element switches on and the problem starts instantly (first part of the wash) and once the element switches off the motor instantly starts working fine again.

If its a matter of changing the usual suspect on the pcb then it may be worth my time otherwise, it's the recycling depot.

I've attached a photo if it helps.

Thanks in advance.
André

Thanks for replying,

Yes I do have a multimeter.

I would look to see if the makns voltage drops anywhere when the heater comes on.

So sorry for the delay in posting but I wanted to be sure.

After sometime checking the voltages across the pcb. I decided that my skill level was limited to changing the voltage regulators, capacitors and any suspect resistors. However, while inspecting the pcb I noticed hidden away the run/start motor capacitor and after some lengthy internet searches as to how this works I opted to replace it as the cheapest part.
So far so good, it's been a few weeks and all the previous issues have gone away and things seem great.
Thank you endecotp for responding and fingers crossed I've found the fault.
Hope this helps anyone with similar issues with a very old washing machine.

Thanks Again
André
