Washing maching belt woes

I have a Bosch Varioperfect washing machine (WAQ283S0GB) which does not spin. I opened it up and the belt had come off. So I put it back on and a few days later it came off again - it kind of catches above the lip of where it sits in the drum and moves over the lip then off the drum. So I put it down to a slack belt and bought a new one. However, despite the new belt being much more taut, I'm having the same problem. If you spin the drum manually, the belt will just not sit where it supposed to and will gradually move over the lip!

Any ideas how to solve this?

Cheers in advance!

If you get hold of the metal inner drum and try to pull it forward / push it backwards, does it move at all in relation to the outer drum?

Yes, it seems to move in relation to the outer drum. There's a lot of play in the drum, but the belt is currently off.

Also, if you manually rotate the drum it feels as if it's knocking something. Increase the speed of rotation and it sounds like a train building up speed. All this with the belt off.

Bearings are destroyed. As that machine is likely to be a sealed drum type it will not be possible to replace the bearings, so a new machine is the only option.

I was dreading that. £500 machine just 4 years old! I'll get a £200 Beko next time.
