We have an alarm system set up with a single Honeywell Accenta Gen 4 LCD keypad.

This has been working well for several years.

Today we came to disarm the alarm and when trying to enter the PIN nothing happened and the display was completely blank. The power light however was lit up red so there is power to it.

Does anyone have any ideas on what may cause this issue ? - Is it most likely a fault on the keypad or could it be a fault somewhere else on the system ?

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance

Could a faulty battery cause the keypad to light up (The power light) but have a blank display and not respond to button presses ? - Even if there is mains power to it ?

Is there a battery in the keypad or just the main control unit ?

Thanks in advance

Mains spike ... battery faulty ....panel stalls.....it's in the main box ....replace every 5 years

Thank you - With the bad weather recently I think there has been a power outage, so that might explain it.

I'll try disconnecting the battery, mains to reset it first - Does anyone know if this will completely reset the system though (access codes, zone information, etc) and need to be set up again ?

No it SHOULD hold all the programming BUT it has been know for panels to go back to factory set , you default code is 0123

Just take the battery out and replace it, Screwfix should have one if you have a branch near.

Faulty Batts. can cause all sorts of strange problems.

Don't play with it until you have the new battery, that's your problem.

PS. Turn off BOLD, it's nearly as bad as all caps. to read.

Check the mains fuse. I've seen this happen when the fuse blows, and the panels left with just the battery power.

Thank you very much for all the replies - Gives me a few things to try.

Check fuse in main control panel, replace battery. Am I correct in thinking it is a 12V 2.2Ah battery that I need to go for ?

Between 2.1 and 2.3, and also check the fuse in the unswitched fused unit that feeds the panel.
