Personal Alarm

I have an unexpected and unfortunate need to provide a personal alarm for a health condition for a member of my family. I have a texecom premier elite and in process of integrating IP cameras although already have access sorted through a synology app. I can't rely on comip for a life critical situation (it's working well though) however I would like to achieve some sort of integration for situational awareness. We're rural in a hamlet and have amazing neighbours who would respond to our house alarm, especially if briefed.

I would like a wearable alert button, and whilst I shouldn't be picky, a desirable requirement is I would like it to not to look like an elderly panic 'pendant' alarm.

I would really appreciate any ideas, I've started searching amongst the myriad of other stuff going through my mind, but my searches are swamped by American panic alert bracelets for worldwide alert! I'm an electronic engineer so 'get' this stuff, however I need something ergonomically designed with resilience that I can install to give peace of mind before we bring them home.

ps I have crap mobile reception on all networks, crap broadband 0.5 Mb on a good day etc. despite actually being only 10mins from a motorway, hence thinking along the lines of house alarm and trad dialler.

The Texecom range has a comm 2400 module which will allow SMS text message with zone description to various mobile numbers.

I would not use the house alarm for this possibly life critical emergency call system.

You should be looking at a system that calls a response centre that is manned 24/7 and then allows the staff at the centre to talk to the person via a loud speaker phone. Hence if the person has fallen and cannot get to the phone they can still talk to the service centre and be re-assured that help is on the way. The call centre ataff can contact local friends or neighbours to attend ir if the situation requires it call the emergency services to attend.

Some local councils provide this service ( free or subsidised ) or you may have to subsribe to it.

Scantronic 4600 receiver (4612) and transmitter ( has a belt clip) you can pick up for around £30 on ebay this is the old 173mhz they also do an 868mhz version , the old version had a good range can comment on the new version

Once installed make sure to inform your telephone provider they will mark you as a special needs customer so if the phone line ever goes down they will be out super fast to fix it.
