Cart Wheel Advice

Hi,

The cartwheel on our old wall has started to see better days. It was there when we moved in 12 years ago, not sure if it's a geniune one or replica. It's starting to fall apart badly, pass that rustic stage.

I cant decide if I just need a good chippie to carve out and replace the rot (spokes and rest of wheel are fine) or I should find a similiar one on ebay which probably would be a replica though.

Can someone give me their thoughts?

I'm no expert on cart wheels. we have got one but ours is definetly a replica. To me yours looks genuine. It has a steel rim, ours hasn't and it looks like part of the wooden inner rim has already been replaced at some stage. I would think, if you can find a decent chippy and that might be your hardest problem, it could be repaired but it aint gonna be cheap.

My sentiments entirely. I think it's genuine too. There's a place called wheelwrights in Suffolk which specialises in gypsy carriage wheel repair etc. I just a repairer like that then I guess in the Herts/Essex borders which is easier said than done. I agree, I don't think it will be a cheap job.
