1998 1.9. I've got a very annoying problem with my power steering. The metal pipes that sit on top of the rack and connect the control valve to the piston housing are rotten, and one is leaking fluid. The pipes look as if they have a standard 12mm flange nut connection at each end. However, the Peugeot dealership says they've never been available as separate parts from the rack, which is now discontinued anyway. So, what's the solution? Just try and find a complete rack from a breakers, or can I source some replacement pipes from somewhere? Could I even get a copper pipe kit and knock up some myself? Would love to hear from anyone who may have done a similar thing.

Actually, it's not quite exactly, they seem to be for LHDs only.

Not suggesting you get these, even if they were the correct ones, just if they are similar, or use similar fittings. They just prove they come apart and appear to be standard double flared ends. What diameter is the pipe itself?

I would be looking at a company close to you that makes up hydraulic pipes to pattern. There are several near me in Colchester so don't think you would have any trouble getting replacements made up.

Failing that you could, depending on pipe diameter, always make some up yourself.

Just to update this, I got a set of pipes for this rack from these guys, ACS Power Steering in Tamworth. I happened to be passing and called in, great to see them rebuilding a ton of racks in there, very helpful with my requirements too. £35 for the pipes and job done. Very happy.
