Hi All,

I'm after some advice if possible please?..

I'm half way through a DIY kitchen install (first ever) and I've hit a snag. The guy came to template for the quartz worktops and pointed out a problem where I have an integrated dishwasher that's at the end of a straight run which then has a breakfast bar at right angles next to it (so a backwards "L" really.)
The problem is that their standard worktop overhang is 40mm and the gap I have for the dishwasher is 600mm for the machine plus a 45mm void due to having to space the breakfast bar drawers away from the dishwasher door. (shop designers oversight - too late now!)
The worktop guy was really concerned because the straight run of worktop will finish over the void with no support underneath. Even if I batten out the 45mm void or find some sort of wall bracket to fit the void I'll only beat the overhang of the breakfast bar by 5mm. Obviously the dishwasher will be fitted under the overhang but the guy said that wasn't good enough.
My only thought was to adjust down the height of the dishwasher by 10mm or so and fit a steel strip on brackets to bridge between the units. The dishwasher door does have adjustment but I'm not sure how much at this stage.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks(y)

Yes, I'll probably have to fix one hard up against the RHS of the dishwasher anyway to fix the door panel mechanism properly.
It still won't overcome the support problem though.
I've just checked the front panel adjusters and they only give around 3mm of adjustment so my earlier plan is scuppered.
After thinking some more, if I batten behind the dishwasher the only unsupported section will be a max of 400mm at the corner. The recommended unsupported length is 300mm but this is on a breakfast bar overhang.
Most of the time the dishwasher will also be supporting the worktop.

I think this is what I'll go with but Id still appreciate any helpful advice please. (Not the don't eat yellow snow type though thanks.);)

Could you support the over hang area with a slender column ?. Something like 3 inch diameter steel tube.

I'll have to post pics tomorrow or over the weekend as I'm back on 12hr shifts for the next 2 days and 2 nights.

Thanks for the help so far, keep it coming please.:)
