Hi all,

I have another question this time regarding dpc.
I am making my french door opening smaller and I stumble on this scenario. Please check photos for details. Floor setup looks like this: laminated floor, soft membrane, then chip board, there was a polystyrene which I have removed. Now where the gap is I am planning to put dense concrete block. The question is should I put first bed of mortar, then dpc, then bed of mortar and then the block? Or should I just put mortar on top what I see and block on top?
As per photo there is actually no dpc under polystyrene so I am a bit confused.
Thank You in advance for your help.

Ok after some further investigation I am a little more concern. The DPC does not go under slabs or outer bricks, they cut the horizontal piece and put it between bricks and internal slabs but that strip does not go under any of it. I can actually pull it up if i want to. Also about 3 cm of chip board along door opening is rotten which is probably due to brick being wet and transferring moisture to chipboard. What should I do with all this before I put new french door? Thanks!

Does is look like there is/was a polythene sheet under the chipboard (over the styrene?)

Are you re-doing the floor?

What about this as an idea?
New dpc, over bricks, then chopback chipboard until dry, and replace with PUR sheet same thickness.
This won't transfer damp.

Interested to see what others recommend.

Good luck.

Hi, I like your idea Mr Chibs, yes there was polythene sheet very thin stuff on top of polystyrene. I will be ripping old laminate flooring up and tiling entire kitchen. How would you attach piece of PUR sheet? Would that just float? BTW, I found DPC sticking out under slab, but it is right under about 10cm deep.
