Hi

I am about to paint on lining paper first painted about 5 years ago - still in excellent condition.

How should I prepare the surface for the new coat(s)?

Thanks

Hi

The paper was put up before we moved into the flat, about 6 years ago. It was unpainted but very even etc, so we painted it with 2 coats of a Dulux coloured-emulsion.

That's it.

He'll want to know whether it's silk or matt emulsion.
Do not attempt to wash down matt emulsion as it will destroy the surface. All you have to do is apply two thinned down coats (by 15%) of Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt. No need for rubbing down to provide a key as matt emulsion has a suction rate.

Thanks very much for your responses - that makes everything a lot clearer.

Would the advice have been different if the emulsion had been silk?

Thanks again.
