Buzzing Shower

Hi,

I have a Triton mixer shower, web page https://www.tritonshowers.co.uk/mixer-showers/mersey-dual-control-mixer-shower.html which buzzes when you first switch it on. It only does it for a few seconds while it gets up to the set temperature but is really annoying. It has only started doing it recently and seems to be getting worse.

When you switch it on and it starts buzzing, if you turn the temperature knob clockwise until the buzzing stops then turn it back to the temperature you want, that seems to 'cure' it until the next time.

Any ideas what is causing this?

Yup, thermostatic valve causes it. How old is it? Still in warranty?

The shower is around 10 years old so definitely out of warranty

Is there a spare 'part' which can be replaced or does the whole lot need to be replaced?

You may be able to get a replacement thermo valve, go to https://www.showerdoc.com/, if there's one available they'll usually have it, may be obsolete though. Won't be cheap though I'll wager if you can get one .

At 10 years of age you need to think about replacement, or you will just be throwing money at it

I went to a flat with a water noise problem on Monday.

They said there was a noise coming sometimes from the shower head.

Discovered there was a small impeller like wheel inside that was meant to turn all the time but was only occasionally doing so!

Hell

nearly cheaper to buy the whole shower again as the valve is a 'little' on the expensive side...
