vaillant vuw

If that works...its the same as our boiler. The hot waters turned on but wont heat unless we flick up the bottom right knob to the flame symbol.
Yes.....please suggest someone near me Mr vaillant man !

Can't help you further with a local engineer, but these were good boilers and fairly easy to work on. Your fault could simply be lack of servicing. But needs a registered gas man.

Would love to know how @Agile has further modified his one of these to give pre heat operation top of a 10:1 turndown ratio. But I doubt we'll get anymore sense out of him on this thread.

Tina, call vaillant and see if they can come out and fix the boiler.

Dan R you should know by now the man from auntie talks a good fault:whistle:

You seem to be resetting a lockout.

But how long does it take to get to the lockout condition after turning on a hot tap?

But regardless, you are likely to need an engineer to fix it for you.

Its a long shot, but does it make any difference to the boiler working if you are burning a few hobs on a gas cooker?

What have the hobs ever done to you.

OP has described perfectly manually resetting the boiler... Using the bottom right knob. Not sure what flicking the heating knob is supposed to do?

"goods" ?

OP is right, it is the bottom right selector switch to reset. ( To avoid confusion I have deleted that bit from my post above ).

The hob test is in case there is a Donkin or similar problem with the supply.

My own turbomax is a later version with digital display.

I have told her that the boiler seems to be locking out on first use.

Told her she will probably need an engineer.

Given her a simple test which, although a long shot, might identify the fault at the meter rather than in the boiler.

I have a feeling that Vaillant may no longer provide service to this model on account of the age. But she could ask.

But a local engineer is likely to be far cheaper than Vaillant.

I don't see why "3 engineers" would all be stumped by a simple fault of the type which we encounter regularly.

Thanks kid, agile should retire gracefully , its difficult to diagnose, or guess , but it sounds like its around pump pd valve area. Dont know any in ur area so as much as it pains me, pay the £299 vaillant fixed price repair

When the OP made her first post all she said about her model was that it was a VUW.

At that time it was quite possible that her boiler was exactly the same model VUW as the one that I have which does have pre heat!

Tony you do have the temerity to argue the toss with one of the best vaillant aces
Where is your milk of kindness? Instead of offering positive help, you are preaching doom and gloom. Bravo old chap.

Doom and Gloom!

Are you referring to Brexit?

I voted to remain but the country has decided to leave albeit by a very small majority. I accept that majority decision.

Which if repeated now, with all the additional information we have since been given, would probably give a remain result!
