Quick Driving lesson please - Win10

Win10pro , new to me. I'm used to XP and 7.
C: is a 512 m.2 drive just for programs, Data is D etc.

I Can't Find Programs!
Some won't "pin" to the task bar at the bottom of the screen, and some don't appear in the rise-up list when you click the window icon bottom left.

I downloaded/installed stuff like camera Raw software from the mfrs, and it's only in "Recent". There are dozens of "recent" ones though, it's a new PC to me.

Ye Olde op systems just gave a tree of them across the screen....

Where are they?? If I dig in the C: drive I can find some, but many come with a bunch of other utilities and I forget what they called them. Eg Canon comes with half a dozen bits and pieces I want kept together.
I have a Canon printer too - to Scan I used to go across the tree and find it. Now, no idea where it is!

Also where's "Outlook" - I used to use the Calendar!!

Do I need the Create/ Play/ Explore pictures to the right of the list - they look yuk..?

Surely it's possible to have things in an ordered manner, where you can find them, without having to type the name in ( which doesn't always find them anyway, even if you CAN remember the exact name).

For example I downloaded a Nikon Raw converter,
It's in Recent ( above "A"), but not in the "N" section of the alphabetic list.

Not all programs pin the icon to desktop or status bar. There is an option which might be un-checked. You can always stick items to Start menu or taskbar by right click on the software name.

Ye Olde op systems just gave a tree of them across the screen.... All programs is what you are looking for i.e. ordered list of programs alphabetically. When you click on the Windows button, you see the recently added. If you move your mouse towards the right slowly a scroll bar should appear. Using the scroll bar you can scroll down and see the entire list. The other way is press windows button and then start pressing the down arrow. This should also scroll down the list of all available programs.

When it appears, right click on the outlook app and select "Pin to Start if you wish that to appear on the right hand side of the windows start. "Pin to taskbar" if you want that to appear on the bottom bar.

You can get an add-on called Classic Shell. This gives you back the "start" button and the Windows 7 desktop interface. Have a look at www.classicshell.net . It's a free download, and free to use for private users. PS. I hate Windows 10 with a vengeance.

Been using 'Classic Shell' on two machines since installing original Win 10 Pro, now on Win10 Pro V.1703 OS Build 15063.608 - Pretty much bang up to date.
'Classic Shell' seems rock solid, 'Windows Start menu' remains pinned to the Win7 style recent progs list - So can keep up to the mark with use of latest Win10 menu whilst retaining the old tried and tested Win7 format.
