Lovely people on this forum, we removed an ugly wardrobe from our room and discovered the wardrobe was actually covering a chimney base. Previous owners have removed the chimney but not supported the floor. Anyway, long story short we now need to put in two new joists:
1) Joist span 3.25m
2) Joist size (old 100+ years) 2 x 7 inches. Getting this joist size was challenging. We got a nearest match and will trim to the old joist height.
3) Joist will fix to a ledger(header?) attached on one wall and rest in the web of the steel beam on the other end.
I am planning to get Simpson (strong tie), face mount joist hanger (timber to timber). Will someone be kind enough to please let me know what size joist hangers do I need?
Thanks in advance, HL

As deep as the joist
Thank you so much woody. You are a star !!!

Just happened to check some random you tube video and found the Simpson hangers video. It says don't buy just because it matches the size. It says something about load. bit too technical for me. What is that? Here is the link -

I just checked. It says C16. OMG, should it have been c24? Will it all come crashing down if it is c16?

Yes, get it swapped quick. C16 isn't compatible with steel beams or hangers.

Just kidding ;)
