Replacement flush plate for concealed cistern

The flush plate (shiny silver bit with buttons) on our concealed cistern must have been sprayed with some corrosive bathroom cleaner at some point as the finish on it has become damaged. I can see that you can buy replacements but I can't tell from the details if they will fit. Are flush plates generally interchangeable or specific to the make and model of cistern? At the moment I can't find the make and model of the cistern but if necessary I'll dig a bit deeper.

If you push that and it does ring a bell then it's either very sophisticated or something is very wrong! :LOL:

When you've successfully procured and replaced the part - sack your domestic engineer :D
