Installing Metal Box Section Roof On Shed.
I've built the carcass for my new workshop and ordered the galvanised roofing box section/ tile effect profile. Now it has arrived, I realise I haven't a clue how to fix the bargeboards and flashings.
I have ordered bargeboards but I don't understand how they are supposed to work.
With the help of these diagrams, I hope you'll be able to understand my problem and hopefully advise.
This picture shows the whole building, which has two roofs.
Here's the front roof. It is tile effect (shown as smooth) while the back roof uses smooth box section.
When I attach the bargeboard to the side, there is a howling gap as you can see.
What am I supposed to do to address this?
So I have opted to cut the first raised portion off the side of the two side pieces in order for the bargeboard to fit flush with the lower portion of the roof panel. I am now worried this is wrong. After I cut it, I figured I could have placed it above, made it longer to stick out the front, then made cuts to fold it inwards to cover the front. Am I on the right track with this thinking?
So the question is, can I get away with doing it this way? What sort of problems (if any) could I expect with this method? Will it do or should I re-order new roof panels and start again? The latter would be extremely costly and I will really be in the dog house with the Mrs.
(Update: I've just remembered that to get the correct width - one of the sheets overlaps by two sections, the other two by just one. By moving the other two along, so that they all overlap by one, I could then proceed as above.)
Lastly - how do I go about sealing and flashing the top end where it meets the wall under the windows? I have seen pictures of pre-formed bitumen contoured flashing units to fit ordinary round, corrugated roof sheets but not for this specific type of box profile. What are my options?
Thanks in advance. Please be gentle (cos I feel like a right idiot now). I've done a fine job of my carcassing but this is the first roof of this type I've ever installed and this system is completely new to me.
Cheers.
