So, a few years ago I popped round to a friends house and he filled me in on a slight blunder he'd made regarding his electrics. And no, this wasn't me as my brother is an electrician and I seek advice when it's needed! Not that it was needed here!

Anyhow! Basically, the fuse blew for his downstairs lights, and they were the old fuses which had the 'fuse wire'. He searched his drawers for spare fuse wire however, he had none. What he did have though, were some 'sparklers' left over from bonfire night. So he cut a length off the sparkler handle so the fuse would accomodate it, and put said fuse back in, turned the lights back on, and 'hey presto!', an almighty humming noise followed by a loud bang as the living room bulbs exploded!

He then showed me the living room ceiling which had black rings on it! I also told my brother whom repeated the story at work, and everyone was in histerics!

Awesome!

For a second I thought you were going to say he used the part of the sparkler what burns (Assuming it is conductive). What was the fault in the first place what caused the fuse wire to go?

What did the fault turn out to be? I wonder whether he replaced his lights later with Roman Candles!
