I'm about to order a new kitchen to go into a rented property. I've fitted 5 or more kitchens but its mitreing the worktop which I'm unable to do.

A kitchen fitter charges me around £200 to do this and while I accept this is a fair price, it's eating into the overheads.

My question is - is there an alternative to a mitre without having to revert to those awful metal joining bars.

Wood tops don't require mitre, but would you tenants take care of them? and of course they cost more , so no cheaper solution.

There's actually going to be 2 right angle joints if that makes sense. When I say mitre joints I mean the lovely almost invisible joints with a clamp underneath.

The biscuit join is a solution and the additional cost of only around £25 for a worktop with square edges is easy to justify.

Means I'll have to buy myself a biscuit joiner though, Screwfix do a Erbauer ERB372BJC for only £65 and at least I'd be left with a tool to use on other projects.

Get a few offcuts (or invest in a test piece) and practice first. But you can pick up a jig, router, biscuit jointer and all the neccessary bits for well under £200, and you'll never have to worry again.
