hi abs light on on 94 1900td 405 exec. i,ve cleaned uo sensors and front crusty rings. rears were clean because they're inside drums. next i'm planning to test if there is mV output from sensors and ohms across sensors. abs control unit fuse is ok but i noticed there isn't a live at the fuse? any advice please?

Try a meter across the sensor terminals first.....look for an average of 1500 ohms which doesn't change when you spin the wheel. Any connection between either terminal and earth signifies a dud.
John :)

hi john thanks yes that was my plan as stated. Was just wondering if there should be a live showing at the abs control unit fuse or is that normally "killed" once the light is on?

Peugeot 405! Not seen one for ages. From the days of good designs including the 406.

mercedes 190d 2.5 now there's a good design.......

I was referring to the looks rather than the mechanical design!

if the rings were rusty or crusty, they can damage the sensors by rubbing them.

1994 is old enough.

start with the nearside. It gets the most grit due to proximity to gutter.

The only car of that era I had a similar problem with was a Citroen XM, ABS light on, no volts on the block, after much prodding and testing I found that the ABS feed wire had come off the back of the fuse board due to corrosion. Probably no help but I thought I would mention it.

I would expect the voltage to be present at the fuse, the light being on should not remove this so its worth investigating.
You probably stand a decent chance of finding a wiring diagram online for this.
