He must know what he'd done with that cistern is dodgy. I'd refuse to pay him.... or at least my missus would (she's better at that kind of thing lol :D)

OP, it is NOT acceptable. The image ....

shows this to be true.

No way would anyone do this and consider it 'ok'. ( I have this real nice bathroom and would be happy to have bits of batten on show)

He should have removed tiles (if necessary) and altered whatever was required.
Are you paying peanuts mate....getting a cheap job?

I would NOT accept this in any way or form.

Just saying....still laughing

At the very worst you would run it round and box it in, or box behind. then tile it....you wouldn't do that.......giggle

Granted i'm not putting whole new suit in but still if i didnt care at all id not be fitting Grohe mixers .....

Just goes to show that you can’t trust these review sites. This guy is rated 9.9/10 with a decent sample size of reviews.

The fact is the only way to get a good tradesman is through a recommendation from someone you trust - and then you have to be prepared to wait cos they’ll be fully booked for weeks.

Is £250 peanuts or the price to expect for straight basin and wC swap and pan connector swap on another.

Should it be more?

There are so many ways that this could have been done properly quite easily. The swan neck that someone suggested earlier is one way. You can buy flexi right angled pan connectors from Screwfix. At the very least he could have realigned the pipe with a MULTIKWIK MKO100 abeit not very nice looking. If he supplied the pan, i'd be asking why he chose that one and not one that he was able to fit neatly.

Maybe you could pay him for the materials (toilet and sink) and some for the mixer tap installation and tell him he'll get the rest when he gets rid of that battening. See if he comes back or not.
