Hey guys, new here but kinda been lurking around for a bit and like the forum.

A while ago I bought an a bought a basic 1 camera CCTV kit from work that was on clearance. It's D1 resolution so pretty horrible but for £30 it was probably worth it just for the included 1TB WD Purple hard drive it came with.

I added a second camera, a Hikvision 2mp turret style camera that has a switchable output with the view of me upgrading the system to HD over coax.

I'm now looking at some Hikvision (or HiWatch if it comes to it) Turbo HD DVRs which has brought up some questions I can't find the answers too.

I want to upgrade the crappy 700tvl bullet camera that came with the old kit with a Hikvision 3mp turret camera, perhaps a DS-2CE56F1T and obviously keep the 2mp camera I already added.

Here are my questions, I was looking at using a DS-7204HQHI-F1/N as the DVR but it states that 3mp is only available on the 1st channel which is self explanatory but does that mean the other 3 channels will only run at 1080p rather than the 2mp on my second camera? Also the DVR I have now does have remote viewing albeit in a terrible resolution but doesn't have the ability to remotely view any of the footage that is stored on the DVRs hard drive. Is this something that is possible on the Hikvision unit?

Appreciate any help from those with experience of this equipment. Thanks.

Chris.

2mp is 1080p
If you have got any sense you can now get this for around £20 more

HIKVISION DS-7204HUHI-K1
Up to 5mp cameras
Yes you can play back remotely

Thank you.

My application wouldn't really benefit from a 5mp camera unless there wasn't much price difference between that and the 3mp. Although it would be good for future proofing I were still using coax and the unit does look sleek.

Thanks

Chris
