Hi guys

Whats best method to stick hardie backer to brick wall. I have checked my bathroom and seems all walls are brick wall no stud work. I don't want to install studs and reduce bathroom size.

Whats best? can i use drywall adhesive?

Not used Hardie boards but have used nomoreply boards, which is essentially the same stuff. I used board adhesive, after priming wall and boards, as per their instruction leaflet, see page 12 (http://www.sts-uk.com/amfilerating/file/download/file_id/4/).

If you need to make any fiddly or curved cuts in the boards I found the tungsten carbide grit jigsaw blades from Toolstation effective and they are only a few £.

I wouldn't trust adhesive on its own for these boards. I've used them a fair bit and I've always put them up with screws straight into the brick. The screws can also be counter sunk nicely.

How are your Google skills?

James Hardie and co. have very clear instructions online on how to do this, including a video on Youtube.

I won't patronise you by just giving you the link.

I used expanding foam adhesive after brickwork proved too flaky for mechanical fixing. Very impressed, even took the weight of a large sink on it.
