the backligjt blew so i took it to a repair shop. 2 weeks later i got it back, only to find a light spot on the screen. I retuned it under a repair warrenty 3 weeks ago and called them up. They said it was with an engineer.
I looked up how to fix this problem which is dislodged light diffuser and says it's fairly easy to fix.
In this position, seeing as they've had it 3 weeks now, is it feasible to get it back and fix it myself?

Yes, but given that it's an "easy fix" then surely the TV repair guy is more than qualified- and sufficiently skilled- to be able to put the diffuser right? Someone has paid them money to provide a repair. Isn't it reasonable to expect that the repair is done correctly?

I don't doubt their ability, just their casual attitude. Yes I'll hold on just fed up waiting for so long.

The issue is the wait. If you go and dismantle the TV to fix the diffuser issue then you invalidate any repair warranty. So the approach is to light a fire under them and get a date for completion.
