Hi all currently doing a self build 1st floor side extension....all water tight now.
I had a problem with leaks from the rain and storms we've had over last couple of months.
The lights in the kitchen and sockets in kitchen were isolated as kept tripping the RCD. We have been left with 1 double socket in kitchen and a lamp for lights.
I'm trying to get the lights back up and running. They are 2 way with a switch at kitchen door and one next to side external door. The switch near side external door has been removed and choc block used. I have power to both ends (only tested with 1 of those testing screwdrivers though) the other switch is still wired up as normal. Is it a case of just wiring a new switch on the 1 that' been disconnected????

Was it just disconnected for redecorating? If so then yes, but If there was RCD tripping I'd expect you to test all the cables before energising again.

I really don' know why it was disconnected as they were fine....not on a rcd or anything. Probably just because it was an external wall and juat as a precaution when he disconnectes tripping sockets. new switch on and it' fine again.
