Hi folks, I got this sink (see pics) from an ex-display auction so it came with no fitting instructions.

Any ideas how you are supposed to secure this to the surface? Is it just by the drain hole thread? Do you glue it?

The are no obvious fixing points on the base, is it perhaps meant to be sunk into the surface? If so, any tips on how to route the perfect shape into this irreplaceable (due to cost) piece of walnut?!

Cheers

done desame basin few months ago, I just put CT1 clear silicone and builders wipe to clean up. no call back atm

Sit it on a bed of silicone ,and make sure the hole you cut is big enough to be able to get to the nut that holds the waste ,should you need to get to it in future. But fit waste to it before putting in position.

Has the wood been varnished; if it has, the silicone may not grip, so try a test first in the centre where you're going to cut the waste hole. I'd use white silicone, and you'll need a narrow spatula to get do a neat edge around that base.

Edit: But they are often bedded into the base, but that shape won't be easy. You'd be better of trying it on a blank piece first, and then transfer the shape to the ledge.

Normally comes with a Template with different levels for the basin to cut out the hole in the work surface so one can have the sink on the work top to the height one wants ( then bedded in silicon)
Reminds me of one I fitted Showed the Husband and wife the template so they could chose the height of the basin on the work top, they both agreed to a certain size which I fitted and were happy with the fitting at the time.
A week later got a call it had caused a domestic dispute because the husband being shorter than his wife found it too high, although his wife found it ideal so I had to make the hole bigger ( compromise) to lower the basin and refit the plumbing. I got the feeling both regretted purchasing that type of " Trendy " basin.

I agree with Bosswhite. the base of the basin should be set into a hole cut very carefully into the surface.

That basin looks like it's to be fitted on a counter top rather than inset into the counter top. The grove in the base is for a decent bead of (ct1) silicone adhesive and if additional (recommended) mechanical fixing is required then a bracket can be bolted to the waste fitting and screwed under the counter top.

you will also need a long enough suitable basin waste fitting and an additional metal 1 1/4 inch backnut to clamp the bracket, then either use the machine screws to clamp or wood screws to secure under the counter top.

As an alternative resolution, internet search for 'vessel basin waste' good luck there
