Hello,

Happy New Year! :)

Can anyone identify this bit?

My other half really likes it and I cant seem to find it on Trends Website but its in their video. If I know what I am looking for then it would probably narrow this down but I have no idea.

All help is appreciated.

Its the video a bit further down the page and the bit in question is at 2:57.

Thanks

James

Thanks I did do that however I cant seem to see the one from the video as it doesn't seem to have the second part of the cutter the ones from the page you have suggested only seem to have the ball type cutter at the top but not the additional straight part which is what is throwing me.

That's probably why I cant find it then. At least I know what I am looking for now and I may even ask Trend if they have any kicking around to see if I can get my hands on it or if any other manufacturer has them.

Thanks for clearing that up.

James

that bit is not even in the set on the page the video is attached to

Thanks @big-all they do look good pricey though but I guess you get what you pay for anyway.

I will keep looking now I know what I am looking for and see if I can find that one or something very similar like you have linked me too.

Nearest I know of are these Whiteside cutters:

As others have said - they need a 1/2in router, they probably need to be run at reduced rpm and most important of all the router must be fitted in a router table and not run freehand

Probably is a whiteside cutter in the video.
Trend have just plucked it from u tube. Silly sillies.

Brilliant Thanks all for your help with this I defiantly have enough to find what I need and @JobAndKnock they are very similar indeed.

Thank you all again for your help.

James

Try this one on the Trend website - it's the one you're after.

It may be easier to recognise the profile if it's turned the same way up as it appears in the tool catalogues. The OP's profile "righted":

(interestingly there appears to be a fault with the washer above the guide bearing - looks like it is marking the edge of the timber) The profile above the bearing on the last example from the OP doesn't correspond, whereas:

Is a lot closer IMHO. Trend (and other manufacturers) change their range from time to time, so it is possible that they have dropped that particular profile. Trend, Whiteside and Amana do seem to share a lot of their designs (or they copy each other? - either way Dimar have been known to supply at least two of those firms in the past - and probably the present as well), so who knows?
