Good Morning

Ithink wood experts may be able tohelp me
I am trying to get some blinds made for an alcove window so i can fit them myself and save circa 300 pounds
Problem is, i cant work out how to measure them
The thing is , there is one large picture window at 225 cm and a window either side at 90 degrees forming a box shape sort of
The venetians in question have a header which is 3cm thick
So do i need to take off 3cm off the large ones measurement on each side so they all fit and open?
Sorry, my poor addled head cant work it out!
Thanks

Why would you buy blinds that do not come with instruction to cut them down? Why not use a different blind supplier?

Its just a matter of cost really. Never mind. Thanks anyway.

Im guessing you mean a bay window?

You need to take off 3cm from each end of the main blind ie 6cm less

then the side windows you need to take off 3cm from 1 end only

draw a rectangle on a but of paper and draw on your blinds to the inside of the rectangle. (where the blinds meet at the corners you will have a 3cm x 3cm square)

Dont forget to add a bit of tolerance as at 3cm the blinds may touch at the internal corners

Thankyou Notch thats was most helpful indeed
Yes , it is a bay! I didnt know how to describe it!
Brill instructions- i shall do as you said.
Sorry for ignorance- woman in her 50’s who has never hung a venetian before!
Thanks again

Ive never fitted venetian blinds though, so I dont know what tolerance they should have where they join at 90 degrees.

I suppose its possible 1 blind should extend past the other to ensure there is no gap -having done a bit of research that is actually a common way to set out blinds, depending on type.

If you look at this link, there is an option for downloading 'measuring blinds for square bays'

Ooh thats brill- i only need a pencil behind my ear now- feel like a proper craftsman ( or woman or person )
Thankyou
