Yes, the formulae are being peer reviewed at the moment for an update of Part B in October. Truss manufacturers have already accounted for the part missing slice in their software. No change for flat roofs and Dairy Milk.

The thing to bear in mind about this is that perhaps your neighbour did it a few years ago and the policy may have changed since then. Every Local Authority has their own policy on hip to gable changes because there is an architectural school of thought that it badly damages the visual look of the house. Against that, people need more space so it is always an argument with pros and cons. But if a lot of people have done it locally it is possible there has been a backlash and you might be required to apply for planning permission.

I am sure local designers will be very aware of the current policy, they could prove a good port of call. Unfortunately just because a neighbour has done it doesn't mean you will be able to under permitted development or even planning permission, annoying as that may seem.
