I have oil central heating which replaced my multifuel Parkray Chiltern 111. The Parkray has had its water pipes disconnected. I now use it just as a space heater. But really it's too big and I want to take it out and put a small 5kw one in its place.

The fireplace, hearth and lined (cement/concrete) chimney are in good condition.

Can I go ahead without breaking any regulations?

What's the size of the liner on the Parkray. Changing to a smaller size may change the draw on the flue. When building control oversee an stove installation, they check that the liner, register plate and everything other than the stove has gone in properly, so doing a changeover may not be an issue. How confident do you feel about this, and where are you getting the stove from, could you get them to drop in the new one for you.

This is very much early days in considering my options. So I can't answer your questions just yet Doggit, but thanks for your comments.
