Dual memory on an android phone

Whether an app runs from the SD card, or internal memory, it still needs to run in ram, so getting as much memory as possible is the best trick. The old Mot G 4 is better than the G5, but the G5 will give you the latest operating system, so if you're not after a tope notch camer, just a very good one, then got with the 5. If you want to stretch a few quid over the £200, then one of tescos partners does the samsung J5 for about £215, sim free.

Techradar is pretty good for reviews.

Look at the Motorola Moto G series.

I believe the G4 is better than the G5. If you want 5.5" plus a FP sensor, go for the G4 plus. £165 SIM free from Amazon.

As for storage, my Huawei MediaPad 2 will swap default storage location to SD card. You just need to reboot to effect the change.

EDIT: Bugger! I was just posting this & couldn't see Dogg's post...

I'm glad you didn't; I didn't know there was a G4 Plus. My G4's hiccuping, and I'm looking for a bigger phone.

My lad has a G4 plus and it has updated to Android 7.

Amazon have 2017 J5's sub £200 and 2016 J5's for a tad more than £150.

I personally think the G4 plus is a better option than the Sammy, unless you are used to or like the skin Samsung put on Android.

The standard G4 is 5.5", the G4 plus has 5.5" + FP sensor. If yours is a 5" G4, it must be the Play model.
This one has 720p and a 2.8Ah battery. The G4 and G4 plus have 3Ah batteries and 1440 x 2560.

Thanks for the advice everyone I went to buy one of the phones suggested in the thread, not going to say which one. Runs all the apps I want, no fuss, nice 5 inch screen, I've just ordered a case for it. All good.

Also it's 4g compatibility so for the first time in my life I have 4g and the internet is bloody decent! First time in my life I've had a half decent phone.

I now have the G5+. I had the G4 but the build quality wasn't as good as the G5+. The G4 lasted around 12 months, the G5+ is just shy of 12 months and it's been down a toilet... Don't ask.

What I find ruins my phone's is all the swarf that gets in them as I work with metal all day long.

5" and LTE.....

Must be HTC One M8 or M9, Sammy J5 2015 model or Moto G4 Play.

The others have screens either < or > 5".

Whatever it is, I wish you the best with it.

My wife has the new Pixel2, the camera in that is amazing. Caught a picture of my daughter in the eye of the dog she took a photo of!
Memory is not a problem either, its got oodles.

The camera in the HTC M8 is not so good, I'd steer clear of it.
The M7 (older) has a better camera.

My wifes just got a Samsung S8+ on a great deal, trying to resist replacing my S5 now..

If you're talking contracts, there are very few great deals.

You can almost always buy a phone off piste along with a SIM only plan that is better value.

I've only ever done sim only and bought the phone. When you work it out over a year, or two, you end up hundreds better off.

Indeed!

Lots of folk get drawn in by the offer of a "free" phone, not realising.

My last phone on O2 contract was split into 2 parts, the phone on 0%apr over two years and the call plan (£13 per month).

Wife has a very similar deal so when the phone is bought it drops to call plan only (£11 per month).

Long gone are the days you get tied into a indefinite monthly contract.

Far from it, truth be told. I dare say at that price they're going to low end phones with very little given in terms of phone plans.

I say this as I've said above, I've always bought the phone and then gone for sim only, however I was on giffgaff for a long time. £20 a month. I ended up changing to 3 which is a 12 month contract sim only.

Reason being I get unlimited minutes and texts and 100Gb a month data.

Data is the big killer when it comes to any plan. I use a lot of data which is why I made a change.

That said, there's no plan with a phone that offers that much data.
