hi all
I hope someone can help out here.
I have a vaillant ecotec with v470f controller and VR65 wiring centre and I want to replace with the new vSmart.
Does anyone know if the combi pack version works with the vr65 or do I need to upgrade it to the vr66?
Does anyone know if the glow-worm migo works with above too?

No one seems to know the answer and vaillant just say I need the sys/ov pack. I fully suspect the sys/ov pack is needed just for those without a wiring centre and I suspect vr66 is listed as the vr65 is discontinued.

As noted in another thread another controller, vr700 + prc900 will be released imminently, thus will provide similar functionality to Vsmart but may cost more.

it also looks like the Vsmart may just be a rebadged / repackaged netamo wireless stat.

Certainly the Vsmart interface is effectively the same as netamo and Vsmart account verify link (vg-thermostat.com) redirects to netamo.

Does anyone know if Vsmart combi pack will work with vr65?
Does anyone know if netamo controller modulates ecotec boilers?
Does anyone know what the difference is between vr65 and vr66?

i've received and installed vSmart system pack for our ecotec unvented system boiler.

observations:
installing vr66 the manual advises turning a dial to 1 if replacing a vr65. This emulates a VR65, so most likely no need to buy a vSmart system pack with vr66 if you already have a vr65 (i have not tested vSmart with vr65).

took a few attempts to sync vSmart with my iPhone vsmart app, i went to bluetooth and connected there then went back into the app and got it to find the vSmart which then did what its supposed to do.

vSmart app:
no seperate DHW & CH programmes, i had set the DHW to charge 1hr before heating started, i have DHW off after 10am during the week.
no readout of DHW temp (i have NCT fitted, boiler shows temp vr470f showed temp in installer menu).
no ability to set DHW delta charge temp.
outside temp listed higher than as reported by vr470f sensor
ability to set new schedules but not sure why.

so i've gained the ability to wake up to a cooler temp than the rest of the day but lost the ability to independently control the DHW & possibly £70 down on a vr66 wiring centre i likely didn't need, (in addition to the app and remote control and auto heat curve of course).

Vr470f WC stat shows 15.5, VSmart outside temp shows 15.6
Other weather apps show 18 and netamo shows 20 at local weather stations as does my eve weather.
I'm wondering if Vsmart is picking up outside temp from the WC sensor?

Do not buy this version of vSmart

Netamo have released a HomeKit version of their controller (has a white light instead of blue in the receiver).
HomeKit permits interoperability with other vendors IoT equipment like sensors and lights. The Netamo thermostat has greater functionality than vSmart and provides reporting on usage and energy consumption, it is also cheaper. Netamo however does not do modulation.

Hopefully vaillant will improve their system and provide HomeKit support but that is likely on new hardware.

Kaos24,
I'm thinkin of going for the vSmart set up, but am reading mixed reviews.
Are you still using yours and if so, has your opinion of it improved?

I hope you didn’t bother with vsmart.

It’s now all about the vrc 700 and ambisense connected TRV’s.

Im not sure ambisense is compatible with vsmart, ambisense needs a new controller though and is already integrated into the vr 700 phone apps.

Looks like Vaillent has left vSmart behind in favour of its in house design.

“The multiMATIC 700 system controller and the VR 920 internet communication module are required for the integration of ambiSENSE into the Vaillant heating system.”

I have now gone down the vsmart route.

Ambisense does look a lot better but likely to be a lot more expensive. I can't find any pricing for it in the UK though.

I'm happy with my vsmart. I think it works reallly well.

When ambisense becomes more mainstream in the uk I can look to upgrade but in the mean time I think vsmart is a good option between a conventional on/off system and a fully integrated individual room controlled system.

I’m glad it’s working for you and you enjoy the convenience of it. Have you integrated with IFTTT? I have a geo fence set up to turn the hot water on when I’m out mountain biking so I’ve always got a hot bath or shower when I get home.

I’m gutted vSmart hasn’t been updated for compatibility with HomeKit or the netatmo accessories like their wireless trv’s.

The Honeywell internet connected controllers are looking good, but lack that vital modulation piece.

I’ll have a good luck at ambisense and vr700 once prices come out.

Yes I have IFTTT set up put my heating into away mode if I go a certain distance away from home.
It's reset itself a couple of times though and I have to reconfigure the active/inactive areas. But I think that's a failing of IFTTT and not an issue with vsmart as similar happens with other geofences ive created.

The price of vr700 setups will probably only come down when the 'next upgrade' comes along and you'll likely want that instead.
I don't think you can really keep up to date unless you're prepared to shell out every couple of years.

For me, vsmart ticks the most boxes without costing silly money.
