Hi all, I will be install a unit behind a door which will result in the door not being able to fully open.

The door will open to about 95% of its full range which will be about 30cm away from the way that is 90 degrees to the door when its closed.

So I need to stop the door from crashing into the unit. I don't really want to screw a stopper into the floor and there are no door stops on the market that are 30cm long.

Any good ideas as to how I may solve this one? Cheers

There are overhead door stops, i.e. not to be confused with overhead closers.

I have had a quick look online at these and the prices range from about £25 to excess of £250.

I can imagine the £25 ones will just hard stop the door which would jolt the frame and potentially damage plaster etc.

The more expensive ones just state that they are heavy duty. Ideally i'd like to get one that will have a dampen then stop rather that just hard stop. So far I cannot find this... Does it exist?

Instead of £250 restrictor, you can fit a £2.50 skirting door stop near to the hanging jamb.

That doesn't work for me... Which is why I am looking for other solutions.
