Red light on Modena 80E

Hi

No CH or HW, all lights are off unless I turn to reset then the red light comes on indicating a fault Clock timer is blank so I thought perhaps it was the timer that died so I've replaced it and the replacement is also dead. Any ideas?

Maybe better calling in an expert instead of trying to guess when you haven got a clue!

Your welcome. You did ask for any ideas!

Do you have a multi meter or a set of test lamps?

How did you come to the conclusion that the timer was the fault?

Maybe it's the pump? Or perhaps the pcb? Or maybe even the water pressure switch?

There's no point in throwing parts into the boiler then hoping you get the right bit.

Is more than likely the fault has something to do with burning gas so you'll need some one suitably qualified.

The timer has gone blank before then come back to life so it was the obvious thing to replace. I had a spare one anyway. Now it seems like it's not the timer would a faulty pump or pressure switch cause the timer to show a blank screen? PCB would make sense but the pump?

Sorry, I'm just guessing.
I wouldn't advise you to replace anything, as like I stated before it could be gas related, so you need to be qualified.
A red light on that boiler would indicate a fault relating to failed ignition.

nope ! your way off and why ?????? , reminds me of that game when sick a tail on a donkey for some reason

you obviously haven't a clue so i would get a engineer to have a look as its a modena it could get costly when messing with this boiler and it would probably be much cheaper in the end as well

The worst boiler engineers are the ones that throw parts at a boiler and charge the customer for the privilege. The best engineers are the ones with the testing experience, the correct equipment and the required training to fault find correctly and fix the issue.

Unfortunately without that experience, a DIY'er will get nowhere trying to guestimate a fix for their own boiler. Nor will a professional on the other end of a forum be able to fault find certain issues either, especially electrical ones and it will need a professional onsite visit.
