Our front door Yale type lock is giving trouble - the key will only turn the lock after a struggle.
The door is wooden and the lock is an early type with a traditional Yale cylinder.
The question is - can I get a cylinder modified to accept the existing keys. The keys fit the inside of the lock so would like to keep the same keys.
Or would a locksmith be able to repair the existing cylinder ? Change some tumblers etc.

A locksmith would be able to key the new lock to your existing keys.

A good mate of mine, who happens to be a master locksmith, recommended GT85 to me when I had a sticky lock. It cleans out the cylinder as WD40 would, but leaves a more lasting lubrication.

I think I found it in the Halfords bike department.

As above I'd start with some spray lube. Can totally revitalise an old lock. If it really is knackered then making a lock work with another key isn't too tricky. It can be done DIY its fiddly but easy, I've changed my shed locks to be the same key.
