I have build a small block / timber frame workshop in my garden. The roof has been covered with 18mm OSB and is being fiberglassed on top.
I fitted the roof back in Sept and the Fiberglass Contractor managed to get the first layer of Fiberglass / Resin / Trims on in Oct / November but has been unable to finish due to the weather - should be getting finished today
Yesterday I noticed that mould / mildew (whatever you call it) has started to form on the underside of the roof (pic below).
We have had some really damp weather and the door has been closed most of the time with no light inside. My understanding is that mould will form due to condensation and lack of light and ventilation.
There is also slight damp ingress through part of the back wall which I am about to hopefully resolve when I render the adjacent buttress on the other side of the wall.
This is either being formed as a result of damp inside the building or my concern is that the roof has been seeping water through the first layer of fiberglass?
Not sure if it is mentioned in my project thread as it may have been in a separate post. Rather that a cold or warm roof this is a composite roof and before I put plywood or plasterboard on the underside of the roof joists the void will be filled with insulation?
Question:
1. Should I remove the mould with Anti Bacterial wet wipes?
2. What / should I treat the underside of the OSB before completing the roof?
The roof joists are 4 x 2, if absolutely necessary I could drill lots of holes through the wall plates and put a thin layer of insulation in the roof? If this is going to be a problem (worst case).
