Sealing a Window Frame?

Hi all,

I have been having fly issues for the last few days which I think is due to the kitchen Window.

From the outside it is badly sealed as you can see in the pictures and on the inside I think the flies are coming through a hair line crack which runs along the wooden ledge of the frame.

On the inside I was going to use decorators caulk, is this ok?

What can I use for the exterior? Is something like this ok? https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-exterior-frame-sealant-white-310ml/21638

Also could there be any reason why they have stopped sealing the exterior at the same part on both sides?

Yes because the cement was still wet on the brick horns.

Caulk is fine inside unless its a kitchen or bathroom, where there is a possibility of humidity I prefer to use silicone but one with an anti mould/fungal agent. For the outside just use an LMN or low modulas neutral curing silicone, personally I'd steer clear of no nonsense stuff, soudal or dow corning are a safe bet

Thanks for the advice.

So I am good to seal up the outside gaps as they have been like for years no doubt?

Regarding the inside my only concern with using silcon is that I wont be able to paint it as the crack runs through the wooded part of the frame (although nearest to the window)

Ah paint, then use caulk and seal it with paint

Out of curiosity would you cut the old stuff out first Or just fill in the gaps?
