Hello all!, was in the loft yesterday and noticed one of the traps had gone off.

Can't decide weather it's a mouse or a baby rat?. Thinking mouse due to the big ears but not sure?.

We have a field behind our house and the occasional visitor turns up now and again.

And animal experts care to have a look?.

Cheers, Keith.

Size is right for a mouse, ears and nose suggest a baby rat. Time will tell.

It's a baby rat. The cat caught a few of em last summer.

I was thinking mouse due to hairy tail BUT it has greasy fur like a rat.

We had bother a few years back but been quiet since touch wood.

Found an old nest today while sorting the loft out, quite big poos. Shod have taken a picture but I gloved up and just got rid of it asap!.

This is a picture of a Brown Rat (common rat?), they do look similar if it was a baby one?.

We have had a few instances of a reported gas leak in a prop , which has turned out to be a dead rat under the floor

had some woman report smelly water when she ran the tap , went there and there was a grey squirrel who had drowned in the cold tank and gone rotten

Had another case of a tap that was not running at a basin in a bath room , turned out that a bird had drowned in the cold tank rotted away and bits of it had got drawn into the cold supply and got stuck in the tap

Rats / vermin will chew at plastic pipe i.e hep 2 o ect and cause leaks , they seem to be attracted by the sound of water running in the pipe may be ???

I was genuinely surprised as above/ in the nest was a lighting cable that was completely untouched!.

Poo looks identical to sodthisforfun's picture or rat droppings unfortunately.
