Hi

We bought the house around 6 months ago. In the dining room there is a chimney breast which was boarded over. I smashed this through yesterday as I was investigating the potential of installing a wood stove when I found this. I'm led to beleive it's a coal burning back boiler. Can't seem to find anything on the net which is remotely similar to this.

I'm still sold on the idea of the wood stove however numerous people are telling me to keep it as a decorative feature - I'm loathed to keep a boiler as a feature.

Anyway question is would this be difficult to remove? I know there's a number of threads regarding opening up and he general advice seems to be keep hacking away at plaster till you find a lintel so you can assess.

If it went in it will come out. Hardly a decorative feature , museum might be interested.

Cheers not seen that link. I would agree, It does seem to be people over the age of 60 saying keep it. Mainly nostalgic reasons I think. Just got to work out how it's all connected up
